THE PRODUCT:

Lost in the Shuffle is a game of over 52 puzzles brought to you in the form of 54 playing cards. As an added bonus, anyone who completes this puzzling challenge will become a certified genus (whatever that means).
Players will work to solve the puzzles hidden throughout the game’s deck of cards, working towards earning and then completing the secretive puzzle 53. Some puzzles are housed on a single card and others will take multiple cards.
The game does require a device with internet access. Some puzzles may require online capabilities and, as players figure out answers, they will enter them in an online portal that will record their progress and level up their brain matter. Additional brain matter will result in story progression and/or information to help continue solving puzzles. It’s all part of the test to see if players have what it takes to reach top genius level… and there is definitely nothing suspicious about that.
Lost in the Shuffle is advertised for 1-4 players, ages 12+. The game claims to take about 4 hours. As a duo, we completed the game in slightly less than 5 hours.
OUR THOUGHTS:

Puzzles:
Lost in the Shuffle comes with a lot of puzzles packed into a small space. They are cleverly distributed throughout the deck, making great use of each card. The game uses multiple codes, ciphers, and puzzle types to keep the challenges fresh and unique.
The puzzles range in difficulty and can be tackled in any order, which makes this an easy game to take on alone or in a group. Different puzzles can be worked on simultaneously, and circled back around as needed. Some puzzles will take moments to figure out and others will take quite a bit more brain power.
There is an online help system for players who need it, but simply tackling the puzzles you can figure out now may pay off later as players level up their genius attribute (we won’t spoil how).
With Lost in the Shuffle, players are set to encounter dozens of high quality and enjoyable puzzles that should really make them feel both smart and accomplished. Victory on smaller puzzles feel great and help build towards conquering larger challenges.
Narrative:
Spencer Beebe and his Robot sidekick are here to test players’ mental mettle by offering this path towards certified genius. However, there may be more going on than meets the eye.
The game provides an excellent and genuinely amusing narrative threaded throughout the experience. As players solve puzzles they will unlock further story developments, which mostly come in the form of videos starring Spencer and his Robot. These videos will give players information in a very entertaining fashion.
Lost in the Shuffle could have easily been a solid collection of over fifty puzzles, but the added narrative raises the overall experience greatly and makes it a memorable adventure with plenty of laughs.
Overall Fun:
Lost in the Shuffle is easily one of the best puzzling experiences that we’ve had the pleasure of playing. It delivers on both the puzzle and narrative sides in ways that elevate the total as a whole.
Players’ ability to come at this game and its challenges as they choose create a fantastic pace to the puzzles that allow the joy of success while also keeping any feelings of frustration at bay. There is also a unique mechanic that should make the harder puzzles feel more doable in a way that feels earned.
This highly satisfying game should have players pushing themselves to delve deeper into its puzzles and story, while also offering them plenty of opportunity for earned breaks.
We highly recommend Lost in the Shuffle for players of any level.
FINAL SCORES:
Puzzles: 5/5 Stars
Narrative: 5/5 Stars
Overall Fun: 5/5 Stars
OFFICIAL C&C FINAL AVERAGED RATING: 5/5 STARS
Disclaimer: we purchased the game with our own money, this review is not sponsored. All thoughts are our own.
