Trash Cult by FoxHen Creatives is a card game which will have everyone competing to help trash animals worship their favorite foods. Players may need to get a little dirty as they not only work to bring down their opponents, but possibly Snackrifice their own cult members along the way. It’s for the greater good, right?
Turns out there is a world where different animals are absolutely obsessed with specific foods. Squirrels love cookies, rats love donuts, skunks love pie, and raccoons love pizza. Now it’s up to the players to unite those animals with those foods, while also keeping them under control.
Consisting of two decks of cards, Trash Cult will have players amassing and using resources, while also staying ready for what their opponent might throw their way. Then, there are also the Chaos cards which will shake up everyone’s plans.
Trash Cult is where dastardly meets cute.
Player Count: 2 – 4
Ages: 8+
Playtime: 20 – 40 minutes
GAME PLAY:

To begin the game, each player will choose a cult to lead. This will determine which animals automatically join their cult and which foods are required for victory.
The goal of the game is simple: have at least one cult member (of any animal type) and the right amount of your specific food in play. The amount of food needed depends on the number of players, ranging from four pieces for four players to six pieces for two players.
Players should separate cards into the main deck and the chaos cards, and then shuffle each deck separately. Everyone then starts with five cards. On their turn, a player should draw back up to five cards (if needed) and then draw one additional card. Next they will play two actions.
With animals players can either recruit a cult member (an animal of their cult’s type) or take a hostage (a different kind of animal). Hostages can be converted to full members with the right action cards. Similarly, they can add their food type to their shrine or add a different food type to their storage. Action cards may allow stealing from or sabotaging of an opponents’ cult or defense of your own.
One of the biggest actions is performing a snackrifice. By discarding the right number of food or animals from play will give players a special benefit. However, this also causes a chaos card to be revealed. The chaos card affects all players including the one who made the snackrifice. The card may provide further benefits, hurt cults, or miss them completely.
If at the end of their four actions and their turn, a player has the right amount of food and at least one cult member, they win. If not, the turn will pass to the next player and the game will continue.
Trash Cult is all about balancing the growth of your cult with the destruction of the others around you.
OUR THOUGHTS:

Trash Cult is a simple to learn and quick to play game, which would be easy to pull out at any game night. The quirky theming should also appeal to players who like anything from cute to devious.
There is something magical about playfully yelling at someone for stealing your pie or Snackrificing those skunks you needed so much.
While the game is light overall, it still involves a bit of strategy. Players have a few things to mull over with every play. They must consider the right time to put certain cards out because opponents may mess with their hand or in play cards. They must also figure out when it’s best to focus on their goals and when they should be trying to thwart the other cult leaders. Is it best to deal with a potential problem yourself or trust other players to deal with that one person gaining a lead? Most importantly, the right time for a Snackrifice is always one of the biggest questions. Will the benefits outweigh the chaos that comes afterward? While the game’s mechanics should make it playable for any level of player, the right moves can make all the difference in the end.
One aspect we liked about Trash Cult is that the games always felt like anyone could win. The game can be a bit swingy in a chaotic way that keeps everyone involved. You never know what someone might draw or if a chaos effect might help or hurt people.
Trash Cult provides a cute and chaotic time for all.
FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
We definitely recommend Trash Cult for anyone seeking an easy entry party game that provides a bit of strategy for those looking for it. The cute theme will pull players in but the wacky gameplay should keep them smiling.
