The Premise and Standings
Each week we’ll face off in a best of three series playing a different board game from our collection. The winner claims the moniker of C&C Clash Champ for the week. The loser is a birdbrain. The lesser player also gets to choose the game for the next week.
We will maintain a record of wins and losses throughout the year to see who finishes 2022 as the ultimate board game champ in our household.
Our current C&C Champion is Chaos after winning last week’s America face off.
Pre-Clash Current Standings:
- Weekly Winner: 8 Chaos – 8 Confetti
- Individual game wins: 24 Chaos – 22 Confetti
After losing last week, Confetti has chosen A Little Wordy.
The Game – A Little Wordy

A Little Wordy is a two player tile unscrambling, word game. The game markets itself as a quick (less than fifteen minutes) and easy to learn experience for players of all vocabulary levels. The object of the game is simply to guess your opponent’s secret word by using as few clues and guesses as possible. Every time a player incorrectly guesses or uses a clue, they reward their opponent with berry tokens. The player with the most berry tokens at the end of the game wins.
Setup is quick and easy. Each player will make a word out of four random vowel and consonant tiles. The word will be between one and eight letters and must be a real word. Then, they will write this word down secretly and trade tiles with their opponent. Between the players will be eight random clue cards. On their turn, a player may take a guess at the secret word or use a clue card, getting information but also rewarding their opponent with berries. Wrong guesses reward the opposing player two berries.
Turns go back and forth until one player has successfully guessed their opponent’s word and has more berries. Just because you get the word right first doesn’t mean you automatically win. Different clues are worth different amounts of berries. Players will have to carefully decide which clues to use and how often to use them.
The keys to victory for A Little Wordy are a combination of selecting a great secret word that is hard to guess and then thoughtfully rationing clues to discover your opponent’s word.
Chaos Pre-Clash Thoughts:
Having never played A Little Wordy, I don’t know if I’m actually any good at it yet. I usually both love and hate word games. I tend to do pretty well with them, but I also suck at spelling, so that’s a big handicap. After reading the rules, I’m pretty excited to play this game. I’m hoping this week doesn’t spell disaster for me and then I end up getting to spread the word of my victory.
Confetti Pre-Clash Thoughts:
Chaos bought me A Little Wordy for my birthday and I’m excited to get to play. I love word games and it’s fun to have one that is designed for two players. Chaos also struggles with spelling so I’m hoping I can pull out the win.
Game 1 –

This was both Chaos and Confetti’s first time playing A Little Wordy, but thankfully the rules are simple enough that everything ran pretty smoothly. However, the game isn’t lying when it claims to be a quick one. Not quite learning the meta and the best tricks, neither player went super tricky with their word choice the first game.
Confetti went into full on guess mode, while Chaos used the clue cards available to help narrow down his options. Chaos figured out Confetti’s “quit” pretty quickly and grabbed an early victory since he already had more berries than Confetti.
Note: Chaos’ word was “warp.”
Game 2 –

Game two saw both players continuing their strategy from the first game. Everything played out pretty similarly. Chaos used the clues to confirm his letter suspicions and then guessed the correct word, “you,” on his third turn. Confetti’s shot-in-the-dark guesses ended up missing the mark again. She did guess “fate” which was super close to the actual answer, “fated.” Chaos purposefully went with “fated” since he thought a past tense word might be a little harder to guess. His bet paid off.
Game 3 –
There was no need for a third round since Chaos had already claimed victory for the week.

Your Winner and STILL C&C Clash Champion: CHAOS!!
Chaos Post-Clash Thoughts:
I really enjoyed the play that A Little Wordy offers and I think it has potential to be even better once everyone has an even better feel for the game’s meta and how to best choose words for maximum trickiness. It’s good to pick up another weekly win. I look forward to what next week has to offer.
Confetti Post-Clash Thoughts:
I enjoyed the game a lot, but I think I don’t fully have the strategy down yet. Hopefully as I play more, I’ll get better at it. Here’s to hoping for a win next week.
Next Week: Watergate
